WATER WHEEL next >>

It has been the absence of the wheel of an old mill in the Bolognese Apennines, which lead to the idea of a rotatable bookcase.

In the Apennines as in Bologna itself, the mills represented the main industry for many centuries, but now it is disappeared as the majority of channels in the historical town centre that are covered by asphalt, nowadays.

The sides of this wooden furniture piece, which is based on the form of an octagon, show eight images in plexiglass that reveal the historical but also current still existing waterways within the medieval town wall of Bologna. The video, instead, displays in the center of the furniture the current situation of an old water mill in its river habit in the Bolognese Apennines, but there is one main element missing: The wheel.
